The documentary Area 2 tells the story of Chicago Police Commander Jon Burge and his “Midnight Crew” of detectives are accused of torturing over 100 Black criminal suspects using such brutal methods as electroshock between 1972 and 1991 with tacit approval of city leaders, including Mayor Richard M Daley. Ronald Kitchen, one of the men wrongfully convicted is the author of the memoir, "My Midnight Years: Surviving Jon Burge's Police Torture Ring and Death Row."
Jarrett Adams was wrongfully convicted and now leads a non-profit fighting for other who were wrongfully convicted called Life After Justice. He is also a defender and a civil rights lawyer. His memoir is "Redeeming Justice: From Defendant to Defender, My Fight For Equity On Both Sides Of A Broken System."
